JACKSONVILLE STORY 4
Our Unhoused Neighbors Belong in Jacksonville’s Future: Jacksonville community vision 4

This campaign image opens a larger conversation about our unhoused neighbors belong in jacksonville’s future. It is an illustrative vision, not evidence of a completed project, endorsement or approved public expenditure.
Public safety without criminalizing poverty
Being unhoused is not itself a crime. Jacksonville can enforce laws against violence, threats, trafficking, illegal dumping, property damage and other dangerous conduct while refusing to treat poverty as proof of criminality. The same rules should protect housed and unhoused residents alike.
A workable response pairs trained outreach with clear public-space standards, available service options, sanitation, storage, transportation and follow-through. Moving someone from one block to another without a safe destination does not create stability. Ignoring unsafe behavior does not create compassion. Good government must be humane, lawful and operationally serious at the same time.
What Jacksonville residents should expect
Every campaign idea should identify the public need, legal authority, expected cost, funding path, responsible partners and measurements residents can inspect. The administration would listen before acting, distinguish a proposal from an approval and report delays honestly.
This visual story connects ambition to everyday service: safer neighborhoods, lower costs, better city services and opportunity that reaches the whole city. Residents should challenge the assumptions, examine the full article and help improve the plan.
