FITZ4JAX CHILDREN’S CIVIC-LEARNING COLLECTION
Solve Together

Chapter 1
After a storm, a neighborhood playground was covered with branches and leaves. Everyone saw the same problem, but nobody could fix it alone. Elena suggested that the neighbors first make a safe plan and ask an adult to check for hazards.
Chapter 2
Families formed small teams. One group collected light branches, another sorted reusable supplies, and another brought water. The children made signs reminding everyone to wear gloves and stay away from damaged equipment.
Chapter 3
When two ideas conflicted, the group listened instead of shouting. They compared safety, cost, time, and who would be helped. A better answer appeared when they combined the strongest parts of both ideas.
Chapter 4
City workers later arrived with the tools needed for the heavy work. The neighbors thanked them and explained what they had observed. Residents and public employees each had a role, and cooperation made the response faster and clearer.
Chapter 5
The playground reopened with a community picnic. The children understood that government is not magic and neighbors are not powerless. Good results require lawful decisions, capable workers, useful information, and people willing to participate.
Chapter 6
The lesson traveled beyond the park: listen, measure, share responsibility, and solve together. A strong Jacksonville is built when every neighborhood has a voice and every promise is followed by careful work.
